Basilicata

regionscoat of armswhiteblue

The flag of Basilicata displays the regional emblem on a white field. The coat of arms features four blue wavy diagonal stripes on a white shield, representing the region's four major rivers: the Bradano, Basento, Agri, and Sinni. Above the shield sits a crown. This southern Italian region, also historically known as Lucania, adopted its modern symbols to reflect its deep connection to water and the landscape that defines its identity.

Basilicata is home to Matera, whose ancient cave dwellings (Sassi) are among the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the world and served as a filming location for multiple biblical epics.
