The India flag features a yellow circle centered on a black background. It signals that a vessel is altering course to port (left). Like Echo, this flag provides a visual indication of a ship's intended movement, critical in situations where radio communication may be difficult or when multiple vessels are navigating in close proximity.
The India flag's high-contrast design of yellow on black was deliberately chosen to be visible at great distances, even in poor weather conditions. It follows the same principle used in road warning signs around the world.
