Amazonas

statesstarscantonred

The flag of Amazonas consists of a field divided into two horizontal bands β€” a larger red upper band and a smaller white lower band β€” with a blue canton in the upper-left containing white stars arranged in a pattern. The red symbolizes the state's revolutionary spirit and the blood of those who fought for it, white represents peace and hope, and the blue canton with stars echoes the Brazilian national flag's celestial theme. The stars represent the municipalities of the state at the time of adoption.

Amazonas is larger than the combined area of France, Spain, and Germany, yet over half its population lives in the capital city of Manaus.
