Czech Republic

The Czech flag consists of two horizontal stripes of white and red with a blue triangle extending from the hoist side. The white and red are traditional Bohemian colors dating back to the Middle Ages, while the blue triangle was added in 1920 to distinguish it from the Polish flag. Czechia retained this flag after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993.

After the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the Czech Republic kept the Czechoslovak flag despite an agreement that neither successor state would use it.

Adopted: 1920
