The flag of the Pardubice Region represents this eastern Bohemian region known for its horse racing, gingerbread, and chemical industries. The Great Pardubice Steeplechase, held since 1874, is one of the most difficult and prestigious horse races in the world. The region stretches from the Elbe lowlands into the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands and contains parts of the Orlicke Mountains along the Polish border. Pardubice gingerbread has been produced since the 17th century.

The Great Pardubice Steeplechase covers 6.9 kilometres with 31 obstacles including the fearsome Taxis Ditch, and has been described as the toughest horse race in continental Europe.
