The flag of Galicia is a white field with a diagonal blue stripe running from the lower hoist to the upper fly. When used officially, it includes the coat of arms featuring a golden chalice (the Holy Grail), a host, and seven crosses. The blue band represents the Atlantic Ocean and the rivers that define the region's geography.
Galicia has strong Celtic cultural ties and its flag's simplicity is sometimes compared to Scottish and Irish flags, reflecting the region's connection to Atlantic Celtic culture.
