Flag of Gambia

Gambia

africatricolourstripes

Adopted in 1965 upon independence from Britain. The red represents the sun and savanna, the blue represents the River Gambia that flows through the center of the country, and the green symbolizes forests and agriculture.

The Gambia's flag is unusual in that it was designed without any political symbolism — the blue stripe literally represents the Gambia River.
