Genderqueer Pride
identitystripeshorizontaltricolour
Designed by Marilyn Roxie in 2011, this three-stripe flag uses lavender, white, and dark chartreuse green. Lavender has a long history as a symbol of queerness dating back to the Lavender Scare era of the 1950s. Green was chosen as the inverse of purple on the colour wheel.
Lavender has been a symbol of queer identity since at least the 'Lavender Scare' era of the 1950s when the colour became associated with homosexuality in American culture.
Adopted: 2011
