First presented by Tony DeBlase at International Mr. Leather in Chicago on 28 May 1989, this flag features alternating black and blue stripes with a white centre stripe and a red heart in the upper left. DeBlase deliberately never explained the symbolism.
DeBlase deliberately never explained the symbolism, writing 'I will leave it to the viewer to interpret the colours and symbols.' It remains one of the oldest unmodified LGBTQ+ flags still in wide use.
