The current flag was adopted in 2006, replacing the earlier design. The blue represents rain, the white stands for peace, and the green symbolizes prosperity. The black Basotho hat (mokorotlo) is a national symbol of identity.
Lesotho's flag features a mokorotlo, a traditional Basotho straw hat, making it one of the few flags to feature headwear.
