The flag of Kuala Lumpur features a blue field with a red and white striped canton in the upper-hoist corner, and the federal territory emblem in the fly. The blue represents the federal government, the red and white stripes echo the national flag's stripes, and the emblem features a hibiscus flower (the national flower), a crescent and star, and the city's motto. Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia's capital and largest city, famous for the Petronas Twin Towers, and has been a federal territory since 1974.
Kuala Lumpur's name means 'muddy confluence' in Malay, referring to the meeting point of the Klang and Gombak rivers where the city was founded.
