Pahang

stateswhiteblackbicolour

The flag of Pahang is a horizontal bicolour of white over black. The white represents the Sultan's purity and benevolence, while the black symbolises the people's steadfastness and loyalty. This simple yet dignified design has been used since the era of the Pahang Sultanate. Pahang is the largest state on the Malay Peninsula and home to Taman Negara, one of the world's oldest tropical rainforests. The simplicity of the flag belies the state's rich history as a major tin and gold mining centre.

Pahang's Taman Negara rainforest is estimated to be over 130 million years old, making it one of the oldest tropical rainforests on Earth.
