Perlis
statesblueyellowbicolour
The flag of Perlis features a horizontal bicolour of blue over yellow. Blue represents the Raja (ruler) of Perlis, while yellow symbolises the sovereignty of the state. The design is elegantly simple, reflecting the modest character of Malaysia's smallest state. Perlis sits at the northernmost tip of the Malay Peninsula, bordering Thailand, and has historically been influenced by both Thai and Malay cultures. Despite its small size, Perlis is known for its mango orchards and sugar cane plantations.
Perlis is so small that it has no rivers large enough for navigation, and at just 821 square kilometres, it is smaller than many cities worldwide.
