Komi Republic

republicsbluegreenwhite

The flag of the Komi Republic is a horizontal tricolor of blue, green, and white. Blue represents the northern sky and cosmic expanses, green symbolizes the vast taiga forests that blanket the republic, and white represents the snow that covers Komi for much of the year. Komi is one of Russia's largest republics by area, stretching across the northern Ural region into the Arctic. The flag's colors paint a picture of the subarctic landscape — endless blue skies above dark green coniferous forests blanketed in white snow.

The Komi Republic's virgin forests are a UNESCO World Heritage Site — one of the largest areas of untouched boreal forest remaining in Europe.
