Turkmenistan's flag is green with a vertical red stripe near the hoist containing five carpet gul (tribal carpet patterns) and a crescent moon with five stars at the top of the green field. The carpet patterns represent the five major tribes, and the green and crescent symbolize Islam.
Turkmenistan's flag is considered one of the most complex national flag designs, and is the only flag in the world to feature carpet guls, reflecting the country's famous carpet-weaving tradition.
