City of London

englandcrossswordred-white

The flag of the City of London is a white field with a red cross and a red upright sword in the first quarter (upper hoist). The cross is the St George's Cross, and the sword is traditionally said to represent the dagger that killed Wat Tyler during the Peasants' Revolt of 1381.

The City of London is only 1.12 square miles but has its own police force, its own mayor (the Lord Mayor), and unique ancient rights that even the reigning monarch must observe.
