The Cornish flag, known as St Piran's Cross, is a white cross on a black background. It represents St Piran, the patron saint of Cornwall and of tin miners. Legend says the white cross represents molten tin flowing from a black hearthstone that St Piran discovered.
St Piran's flag is essentially the inverse of Cornwall's neighbour Brittany's flag (the Kroaz Du), reflecting the shared Celtic heritage of the two regions.
