Carinthia

The flag of Carinthia is a horizontal tricolor of yellow, red, and white. These three colors derive from the heraldic tradition of the Duchy of Carinthia, one of the oldest territories of the Holy Roman Empire. The yellow represents the golden lions on the ducal arms, the red comes from the shield's background, and the white reflects the silver charges. Carinthia's coat of arms features three golden lions passant on a red field in the upper half and a red bar on white in the lower half, divided per fess.
Carinthia's Wörthersee is one of the warmest Alpine lakes in Europe, reaching temperatures of 25-28 degrees Celsius in summer, making it a popular swimming destination since the 19th century.
