The flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina features a medium blue background with a yellow right triangle along the fly side, and a row of white stars along the hypotenuse of the triangle. The triangle represents the approximate shape of the country's territory, and the stars symbolize Europe. The flag was imposed by the international community in 1998.
The flag was designed by the UN High Representative Carlos Westendorp after Bosnian politicians could not agree on a design.
