Sao Tome and Principe

Adopted in 1975 upon independence from Portugal. The green represents vegetation, the yellow symbolizes cocoa and other tropical crops, the red triangle stands for the struggle for independence, and the two black stars represent the two islands.
The two stars on the flag represent the two main islands: São Tomé and PrÃncipe, located in the Gulf of Guinea.
