Philippines

The Philippine flag has two horizontal stripes of blue and red with a white equilateral triangle on the hoist side containing a golden sun with eight rays and three five-pointed stars. The sun represents liberty, its eight rays symbolize the first eight provinces that revolted against Spain, and the three stars represent the three main island groups.
The Philippines flag is unique because it can be flown upside down (red on top) to indicate that the nation is at war, making it one of few flags with this official protocol.
Adopted: 1998
