Thurgau
cantonsanimallionheraldic
The flag of Thurgau features two golden lions rampant (standing on hind legs) on a green field, separated by a diagonal white and green split. The lions are a heraldic reference to the Counts of Kyburg, who once ruled the region. The green color symbolizes the fertile agricultural landscape of the Thurgau region along Lake Constance.
Thurgau is known as the 'apple canton' of Switzerland, producing a significant portion of the country's apple and apple cider output.
