Kronoberg

countieslionredgold

The coat of arms of Kronoberg County features the golden Småland lion rampant on a red field, one of the most recognizable provincial symbols in Swedish heraldry. The lion is depicted with blue claws and tongue, in a powerful rearing posture. This is the pure, undivided Småland lion, as Kronoberg lies in the heart of the historic Småland province. The golden beast on red has represented the fierce and independent-minded Smålanders since the Middle Ages, symbolizing their resistance to both foreign invaders and central Swedish authority.

Kronoberg's capital Växjö was named 'Europe's greenest city' and has dramatically reduced its fossil fuel use, aiming to become completely fossil fuel-free.
