Central Bohemian Region

regionsredwhitecastles

The flag of the Central Bohemian Region features a design incorporating red and white elements reflecting its position surrounding the capital city. The Central Bohemian Region is the largest region by area and completely encircles Prague, though it does not include the capital itself. The region is rich in historic castles, chateaux, and medieval towns including Kutna Hora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its silver mining heritage and the macabre Sedlec Ossuary.

The Central Bohemian Region contains over 900 castles and chateaux, more than any other region in the country — a legacy of centuries of Bohemian aristocracy.
