Horsens's coat of arms features a walking horse — a canting design, as the city's name derives from 'Hors', Old Danish for horse. The oldest known seal dates to 1368. The arms were officially granted in 1938.
Horsens is known for its former state prison, now transformed into a museum and event venue that hosts one of Denmark's most popular Halloween festivals.
