Randers's coat of arms shows the local castle and a bridge over the Gudenå river. The design is based on a seal from 1524 — an earlier seal from 1421 showed only a crescent. Randers sits on Denmark's longest river.
Randers is home to Randers Regnskov, a tropical zoo built inside three enormous glass domes in the centre of the city.
