The Gwent flag features a green and white field with a castle, representing the many fortifications in the region. Gwent takes its name from the Roman settlement of Venta Silurum (Caerwent), one of the earliest urban centres in Wales.
Gwent is named after the Roman town of Venta Silurum (modern Caerwent), which has the best-preserved Roman town walls in northern Europe.
