Known as the 'Golden Arrowhead,' the flag was adopted in 1966 at independence. It features a green background with a red triangle bordered in black inside a golden triangle bordered in white. The design symbolizes the nation's forward drive, mineral wealth, and resilience.
The flag was designed by Whitney Smith, a prominent American vexillologist who also coined the word 'vexillology' (the study of flags).
Adopted: 1966
