Flag of Jamaica

Jamaica

north americasaltirediagonal crosscaribbean

Adopted in 1962 upon independence from Britain, the flag features a gold saltire (diagonal cross) dividing it into green and black triangles. Green represents hope and agriculture, gold the sunlight, and black the hardships overcome and yet to be faced.

Jamaica's flag is one of only two current national flags that do not contain any of the colors red, white, or blue (the other being Mauritania's, prior to its 2017 redesign).
