The West Dunbartonshire flag features a white saltire on a blue field with the addition of an elephant, taken from the historic arms of the ancient Earldom of Lennox. The elephant is an unusual charge in Scottish heraldry and makes this flag particularly distinctive.
West Dunbartonshire is home to the site of the Antonine Wall, the northernmost frontier of the Roman Empire and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
