Yamanashi

prefectureskanjibluewhite

The flag of Yamanashi features a white mon emblem on a blue field. The emblem is a stylised rendering of the kanji 山 (yama, mountain) with a diamond shape at its centre, representing a gemstone — a reference to the 'nashi' part of the name, historically associated with precious stones. The design captures the prefecture's mountainous landscape with Mount Fuji on its southern border. The blue field represents the clear skies and pristine lakes.

Yamanashi is Japan's leading wine-producing prefecture and offers the most photographed views of Mount Fuji from its northern side.
