Kabardino-Balkaria
republicsbluewhitegreen
The flag of Kabardino-Balkaria features three horizontal stripes of blue, white, and green, with a central blue circle containing a white silhouette of Mount Elbrus — Europe's highest peak. Blue represents the sky and the Kabardian people, white symbolizes peace and the snowy peaks, and green represents the Balkarian people and the fertile valleys. The prominent Elbrus motif is fitting since the mountain's twin volcanic peaks sit within the republic's borders, towering at 5,642 meters above sea level.
Mount Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkaria is the highest peak in Europe at 5,642 meters, and during World War II, German mountain troops briefly planted a Nazi flag on its summit.
