Laos
asiacirclehorizontal-stripes
The flag of Laos features three horizontal stripes: red-blue-red, with a white disc in the center of the wider blue stripe. The red stripes represent the blood shed for independence, blue stands for wealth, and the white disc symbolizes the full moon over the Mekong River, representing unity under the communist government.
Laos is the only communist country whose flag does not feature any star or hammer-and-sickle symbol; instead it uses the white disc to represent the promise of a bright future.
Adopted: 1975
