europetricolourhorizontal-stripes
The Bulgarian flag is a horizontal tricolour of white, green, and red. The white represents peace and freedom, the green stands for the agricultural wealth of the land, and the red symbolizes the blood shed for independence. The flag was first adopted after the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78.
Bulgaria's flag is one of the few in Europe to feature green, a color more commonly seen in flags of African and Middle Eastern nations.
Adopted: 1879
