New Caledonia

New Caledonia uses the Kanak flag alongside the French tricolour. The Kanak flag features three horizontal bands: blue (representing the sky and ocean), red (for the blood shed in the struggle for independence and the unity of the Kanak people), and green (for the land). A yellow disc with a flèche faîtière (a traditional arrow-shaped totem) sits on the left.
Since 2010, New Caledonia has officially flown two flags side by side: the French tricolour and the Kanak independence flag. This dual arrangement was intended as a temporary measure during negotiations over the territory's political status.
Adopted: 2010
