Vestfold og Telemark

countiescoat of armsshipblue

The coat of arms of Vestfold og Telemark county features a golden Viking ship on a blue field. The ship represents the region's extraordinary Viking heritage — the famous Oseberg and Gokstad ships were both found in Vestfold. The blue field symbolizes the sea and the county's coastal character along the Oslofjord. This county was formed in 2020 by merging Vestfold and Telemark.

The Oseberg ship, found in Vestfold in 1904, is one of the finest Viking artifacts ever discovered and contained the richest burial treasure ever found in Scandinavia.
