Adopted in 1842, the flag features three horizontal stripes of red, white, and blue. Uniquely, Paraguay's flag has different emblems on each side: the national coat of arms on the obverse and the Treasury seal on the reverse, making it one of very few double-sided flags.
Paraguay is one of only three sovereign nations whose flag has different emblems on each side, alongside Moldova and Saudi Arabia.
