Qatar

Qatar's flag features a broad maroon field with a white serrated band of nine points on the hoist side. The maroon represents the blood shed in Qatar's wars, white stands for peace, and the nine points identify Qatar as the ninth member of the 'reconciled emirates' of the Persian Gulf after the Qatari-British treaty of 1916.

Qatar's flag is the only national flag with a width-to-length ratio of greater than 1:2 (it is 11:28), making it the widest flag in the world.
