Indonesia's flag, called Sang Saka Merah Putih (Red and White), is a simple horizontal bicolor of red over white. Red symbolizes courage and human blood, while white represents purity and the spiritual component of human nature. The design dates back to the 13th-century Majapahit Empire.

Indonesia's flag is virtually identical to Monaco's flag; the only difference is a slight variation in the proportions. Poland's flag is the same colors but inverted (white over red).
