Crimea
republicsbluewhitered
The flag of the Republic of Crimea features three horizontal stripes: a narrow blue stripe at the top, a broad white stripe in the center, and a narrow red stripe at the bottom. The blue stripe represents hope and the future, the white central band symbolizes peace, equality, and the diverse peoples of Crimea, and the red stripe honors the heroic and tragic history of the peninsula. The flag's design is deliberately simple and inclusive, intended to represent all ethnic groups of the peninsula including Crimean Tatars, Russians, Ukrainians, and others.
Crimea has been home to ancient Greeks, Goths, Huns, Byzantines, Venetians, Ottomans, and Crimean Tatars, making it one of the most culturally layered places on Earth.
