Tatarstan
The flag of Tatarstan features two horizontal bands — green on top and red on the bottom — separated by a narrow white stripe. Green represents the Tatar people and Islam, red symbolizes the power and energy of life, and the thin white stripe between them represents peace and purity, acting as a bridge between the two communities. The design reflects the republic's position at the confluence of the Volga and Kama rivers and its history as the heartland of the Golden Horde and the Kazan Khanate. The flag is notable for its clean minimalist design with strong symbolic meaning.
Tatarstan's capital Kazan has the Kul Sharif Mosque and a Kremlin older than Moscow's, and the city was named a UNESCO City of Design for its unique blend of Tatar and Russian architecture.
