Aomori
prefecturesgeographicgreenwhite
The flag of Aomori features a white stylised outline of the prefecture's geographic shape on a green field. The design is a bold cartographic silhouette that makes the prefecture instantly recognisable. The green background represents the lush forests and apple orchards for which the region is famous. It is one of the few Japanese prefectural flags that directly depicts its own territorial outline.
Aomori produces more apples than any other prefecture in Japan, accounting for over half of the national harvest.
