The East Lothian flag features a red field with a golden goat, taken from the arms of the historic county. The goat is associated with the Earls of Dunbar and March who once ruled the region. East Lothian was historically known as Haddingtonshire.
East Lothian has the highest concentration of golf courses per head of population in the world, including the historic Muirfield and North Berwick links.
