The flag of Zug features a horizontal bicolor of white (top) and blue (bottom), with a blue bar at the top portion and white below. The simple blue-and-white design has represented the canton since the medieval period and is thought to derive from the colors of the Habsburg dynasty, under whose rule Zug once fell. The clean geometric design makes it one of Switzerland's more understated cantonal flags.
Zug is known as Switzerland's tax haven, with the lowest tax rates in the country, attracting multinational corporations and earning the nickname 'Crypto Valley' for its blockchain companies.
