Ceuta
communitiesgeometricblackwhite
The flag of Ceuta features a black and white gyronny pattern (eight alternating triangles radiating from the center), with the municipal coat of arms at the center. This distinctive geometric pattern is derived from the arms of the Portuguese House of Braganza, reflecting Ceuta's history as a Portuguese territory before passing to Spanish rule in 1668.
Ceuta is one of only two Spanish territories on the African mainland and was originally conquered by Portugal in 1415 before choosing to remain under Spanish rule when Portugal regained independence.
