Extremadura
communitiestribandgreenwhite
The flag of Extremadura is a horizontal tricolor of green, white, and black. The green represents the hope and abundance of the land, the white symbolizes peace, and the black commemorates the region's mourning and hardship through history. Some interpretations link the three colors to the region's dehesa landscape of oak groves.
Extremadura was the birthplace of many famous Spanish conquistadors, including Hernán Cortés and Francisco Pizarro, who conquered the Aztec and Inca empires respectively.
