regionscoat of armscastlestars

The coat of arms of Hame (Kanta-Hame) features a golden-crowned castle or fortified bridge on a red field, with three golden stars above. The castle represents Hame Castle (Tavastehus), one of the oldest medieval structures in Finland, built by the Swedes in the 13th century. The stars symbolize the three historical parishes of the region. Hame is located in southern Finland's interior lake district.

Hame Castle in Hameenlinna is one of Finland's most important medieval monuments and was later used as a prison, where the famous Finnish bandit leader Rautakoura was held.
