The Falkland Islands flag features a blue ensign with the Union Jack in the canton and the territorial coat of arms on the fly. The coat of arms shows a ram standing on grass above a ship (the Desire), with a scroll reading 'Desire the Right'. The ram represents the islands' sheep farming heritage.
The Falklands have more sheep than people β roughly 500,000 sheep compared to about 3,500 human inhabitants. The islands are known for their extraordinary wildlife, including five species of penguin.
