Saint Helena's flag features a blue ensign with the Union Jack in the canton and the territorial coat of arms on the fly. The coat of arms depicts the island's coastline with a ship at anchor and a wirebird (the island's endemic plover) in a shield. The motto reads 'Loyal and Unshakeable'.
Saint Helena is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world, famous as Napoleon Bonaparte's place of exile from 1815 until his death in 1821. The island had no airport until 2017, accessible only by sea.
