Iran's flag is a horizontal tricolor of green, white, and red with the national emblem in red at the center and stylized Kufic script along the edges of the green and red stripes. Green represents Islam, white symbolizes peace, and red stands for courage. The central emblem is a stylized combination of Islamic symbols.
The words 'Allahu Akbar' (God is Greatest) are repeated 22 times along the edges of the green and red stripes, commemorating the date of the 1979 revolution (22 Bahman in the Iranian calendar).
